Who plays?
Touch Rugby is predominantly played socially by teams that are mixed in gender, age, shape, size, and level of fitness! It is a relatively simple sport with minimal equipment requirements – once the few rules have been learnt, groups of 6-20 people need only a ball and enough space to run around in!
The nature of the sport, the simplicity of the rules, and the minimal equipment requirements, make Touch Rugby a very inclusive game. Men and women play on the same team, children as young as 10 can play alongside adults of 60+, and all shapes, sizes, and levels of skill and fitness can enjoy the same game together.
This lends to its success as a backbone of church outreach through “sports ministry” – one sport welcomes all!
