About Touch Base UK

Touch Base UK has grown out of the success of the Touch Rugby ‘ministry’ of All Souls Langham Place and other churches in London.

We aim to provide networking support for local church groups and sports ministry teams throughout the United Kingdom who are looking to use social, mixed Touch Rugby games, tournaments, and other special events as part of their community outreach programmes.

We aim to provide a forum where learning experiences and ideas can be shared, events publicized, and people with similar aspirations and interests connected.

About Touch Rugby

What is Touch Rugby?

Touch Rugby is a minimal-contact sport that focuses players on developing speed, co-ordination, and, above all, teamwork.

Brief History

Touch Rugby was initially developed as a training game to focus “full-contact” Rugby players on developing their physical and mental speed, agility, innovation, and teamwork.  However, the removal of the physical impact of Rugby opened the sport up to mixed teams of men and women, young and old, large and small.
Since its establishment as an independent sport with standardized rules, Touch Rugby has become the fastest growing recreational sport in a large number of countries worldwide.

In 1985, the Federation of International Touch (FIT) was established to govern the sport (also known as Touch Football in Australia). The England TouchRugby Association (ETA), Members of FIT and Associate Members of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), governs Touch Rugby in England, currently under the able presidency of Clare Gregor.
